Dr. John McCardell (Washington & Lee 1971)Middlebury College President Emeritus Dr. John McCardell is the founder and director of Choose Responsibility, a nonprofit organization established to engage the public in informed and dispassionate debate over the effects of the 21-year-old drinking age. Having sparked renewed interest on this important topic, he will be featured in an upcoming segment on CBS’ “60 Minutes.”

A former chapter president, he also is a successful businessman, serving as an agent for State Farm Insurance Companies for the past 34 years.
